Inspiration: "divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul; an inhalation"

Inspiration, most fundamentally, means to breathe in our life force (prana). When we are inspired, we live fuller, happier, and more authentic lives.

Inspiration Yoga & Wellness offers classes, workshops, and wellness offerings designed to help you live your most inspired life, and reconnect with that place inside of you that is whole, perfect, and complete, exactly as you already are.

About me:

I have been joyfully teaching yoga since 2005! In 2017, I created Inspiration Yoga & Wellness to spread more peace, joy, and yoga to adults and children in upper Montgomery County.

I offer private and group instruction in the vinyasa (flow) style of yoga with an emphasis on mindfulness and alignment.  I have been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching since 2005. I am also the founder of Shining Kids Yoga, a before & after school yoga program for children.

My teaching style & philosophy:

I intuitively create flowing classes that combine yoga philosophy, music, and mindfulness with challenging asana sequences. My classes reflect my belief that yoga is for everyone and I teach classes that encourage students to honor and listen to their bodies, cultivate their inner wisdom, and re-connect with their amazingly awesome selves!

In my classes, expect a creatively sequenced vinyasa flow that emphasizes mindfulness, breath, and alignment and often incorporates aspects of yoga philosophy, chanting, and meditation. I meet students where they are on the mat by offering modifications and variations for students of all levels, and encourage students to tap into their own inner wisdom.

Practicing and teaching yoga is my lifestyle, my passion, and my small way of helping bring more peace into this busy, complex world.

I teach yoga as a way of giving people the tools to find self acceptance and healing in the present moment, help them to expand their vision of what’s possible, create bigger stories for their lives, and allow their fabulous selves to shine through!

My training:

I am an E-RYT 200 registered with the Yoga Alliance which is a fancy way of saying that I studied yoga at an accredited yoga school and have well over 1,000 teaching hours under my belt. I completed both my 200-hour vinyasa yoga teacher training & prenatal yoga training at Tranquil Space Yoga in Washington, D.C. In addition, I have received specialized training in children’s yoga from the Radiant Child Yogaprogram, training in postnatal yoga from Baby OM, and training in therapeutic yoga from The Samarya Center.

Additional Education:

I hold a Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University. I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), licensed in Maryland.  Because of my clinical background in mental health I have special interest and expertise in using yoga as a healing modality for people suffering from anxiety and depression.

What students are saying about my classes:

“You always have a plan. Classes are insightful, mindful, good music choice, don’t always do the same poses. Classes are challenging – you know what we have the potential to do, and encourage us to try.” – M.

“You say things that are memorable and carry on through the classes and also when [I’m] not in class. Messages like “be present” and “still the mind” stay with me. The classes are inspirational and connected to a higher purpose. It helps me remember to feel grateful in my life.” – S.I.

“As a yoga teacher, you are compassionate, spiritual, open-minded. Your classes are challenging, strengthening, well-rounded.”-  D.K.
